20 Goals for 2019

Any college student should be focusing on these 20 things to ensure a more positive and accomplished new year.

  1. Be a little selfish. Do things for yourself when you need some self care.
  2. Keep your resolution. Whether it’s working out or staying organized, it’s probably a good idea to stick to it.
  3. Be more proactive. Instead of procrastinating until the night before the exam, study a little bit every day to ensure success.
  4. Read more books. With so many screens, books fall by the wayside. But, no matter how old you are, there is no better feeling than diving into a great story. Try for one a month.
  5. Eat better. This doesn’t mean you can’t satisfy your cheesy bread cravings every once in a while, but be aware of what you’re putting into your body.
  6. Sleep better. It is very hard to get on a good sleep schedule while in college, but it is not impossible. Being well rested improves quality of life and can help with energy levels and even grades and test scores.
  7. Go to the gym. There is no denying the high of endorphins post work out — it feels great. The gym is also a great place to clear your head and calm your nerves.
  8. Be a leader. Stand up for what you believe in and do not let others push you around.
  9. Take a class for interest, not for your major, and love every second of learning something new.
  10. Ask more questions. This is one of the best and easiest ways to learn.
  11. Cultivate new relationships. There are people to befriend everywhere. You never know what those people might lead you to if you never try.
  12. Do something that scares you. Whether that’s jumping out of a plane or sending the first text, get your adrenaline pumping this year.
  13. Be more gracious. Appreciate what others do for you and do not forget to thank them, and maybe even return the favor.
  14. Love more. Love your family, your friends, your partner, and everyone else close to you. Do not let them forget how much you love them, either.
  15. Watch more movies. Learn about other people’s stories and broaden your entertainment horizons.
  16. Read the news. At this age and with the accessibility on smart phones, there is no excuse for ignorance. Stay up to date on the big happenings.
  17. Treat yourself. Take a nap, buy those shoes, eat that cake. We all deserve a break.
  18. Work hard. There is no time for laziness in 2019. Get that 4.0.
  19. Set goals and meet them. Cross off items on your bucket list and achieve new levels in all aspects of your life this year.
  20. Be yourself. Unapologetically so. There is no better version of yourself than the truest version of yourself. Embrace it and love it and the positivity will follow.
